While talks of autonomous testing and self-driving cars are widely active right now, there still remains the question of when. To hopefully bring the reality that much closer to the consumer market, the Google Self-Driving Project and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are kicking off what they're calling a first-of-its-kind collaboration. The partnership will involve the integration of Google's technology into Fiat Chrysler Automobiles new Pacifica Hybrid minivan.

“Working with Google provides an opportunity for FCA to partner with one of the world’s leading technology companies to accelerate the pace of innovation in the automotive industry,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer, FCA in a release announcing the news. “The experience both companies gain will be fundamental to delivering automotive technology solutions that ultimately have far-reaching consumer benefits."
