Since becoming a standalone brand a decade ago, Ram Truck engineers have tirelessly worked to make their pickup trucks the best in the industry. Locked in a fiercely competitive battle with rivals like the Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-Series, Ram trucks have started to separate themselves from the pack as awards endlessly pile up.
2020 MotorTrend Truck of the Year Winner
2020 was no doubt a rough year for automotive manufacturers, but the same can’t be said for Ram pickup trucks. After earning the most coveted award in the industry, Ram engineers couldn’t be more proud that the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty was named the 2020 MotorTrend Truck of the Year.
MotorTrend praised the Ram Heavy Duty’s graceful elegance, noting that no other competitor offered a more attractive exterior design or luxurious cabin. While other manufacturers are caught up in max payload and towing capacity figures that 95 percent of owners will never exceed, Ram Truck engineers focused on the aspects that buyers do care about—including aggressive styling, refined luxury, and cutting-edge technology.
The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty’s recognition comes only a year after the 2019 Ram 1500 earned the title last year. In the 10 years it’s been eligible, Ram pickups have won this prestigious award five times—certainly more than any other truck manufacturer.
2020 Cars.com Luxury Car of the Year Winner
Long gone are the days when pickup trucks were only offered in an uninspiring, bare bones trim. True luxury was left to sports cars, grand touring coupes and upscale full-size sedans. While truck owners no doubt demand a higher level of capability, Ram engineers believe that doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style. With an unmatched level of interior craftsmanship and detail, the 2020 Ram 1500 was named the Cars.com Luxury Car of the Year award.
This marks the first time a pickup truck has ever earned the distinction—which speaks volumes about the upgrades that Ram interiors have seen in recent years. The top Ram 1500 trim levels including the Longhorn and Limited were praised for their luxurious appointments—like its hand-wrapped leather dashboard and real barnwood interior trim.
Its state-of-the-art 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system features split-screen capability, 360-degree camera views and an unparalleled level of connectivity. Last but not least, the Ram 1500 was also acknowledged for its generous interior storage capabilities and cleverly hidden Ram Bins. The 2020 Ram 1500 offers twice as much interior storage capacity as its competitors.
2021 Truck of Texas Winner
While Ram Trucks are being recognized nationally for their excellence, the Texas Auto Writers Association also recently crowned the Ram 1500 the 2021 Truck of Texas. The “Lone Star State” seal of approval doesn’t go unrecognized, and perhaps carries even more weight with Texans who demand even higher levels of capability, performance, and durability. The 2021 Ram 1500 shined the brightest at the 2020 Texas Truck Rodeo, where 27 TAWA members evaluated trucks and SUVs from 13 different brands in both on-and off-road situations.
TAWA Journalists were the first group to get behind the wheel of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, which was in a league of its own on the off-road course. The TRX’s 702-horsepower, supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 engine also received the TAWA Best Powertrain Award. It’s the most powerful engine ever offered in a pickup, making the highly anticipated 2021 Ram 1500 TRX the fastest production truck ever produced.
